What We’re Doing

Armed Forces Day FreedomRide

"The day was cold, rainy, and just miserable for a ride, but our FreedomRiders were there in force" remarked Kathy Rogers, organizer of the 2013 Freedom Ride.  Escorted by Fairfax County and Prince William County Motorcycle officers (6 each), over 50 riders made their way in solemn procession down the backroads of Fairfax and Prince William Counties to Arlington National Cemetery.  There the Marine Corps Color Guard awaited in the pouring rain to salute the Riders in their recognition of our Fallen Warriors.  After a short ceremony featuring singer Laurelyn Morrison, lone bugler Michael Fox, and Quantico National Cemetery Director Steve Fezler, the Riders returned to the American Legion in Springfield for an afternoon of food, entertainment, military displays, appreciation shown by all.  100% of the FreedomRide proceeds go to support the financial crisis needs of our veteans and families.
